Mom Review ~ Kindle Fire (5th Generation)

The Kids Tap-Taps

This past Christmas we invested in something we felt would really help keep our super active and fun kids entertained during those few times when Mom and Dad are busy and need a bit of quiet, like during long car rides to Grandmamas.

The Amazon Kindle Fire (5th Generation) has been a great tool for us. The small 7" display and 1.3 GHz quad-core processor is available in four colors. It has Alexa installed, and it has an option for 8 or 16 GB and a microSD slot for expandable storage. Prime members get access to a huge selection of songs, books, movies and TV videos. It also has a battery life of up to 7 hours of battery life. We chose the 8 GB and added a microSD card for extra storage, and added a screen cover so that my kids, who are extra tough on things, wouldn't shorten their lifespan. We also bought some cases that turned out to be perfect for the kids, so far we have had no scratches or chips and the kids can't get them off despite my son trying! We also have paid for the Kid FreeTime program that loads tons of apps, books and games in a locked carousel for the kids including Disney, Nickelodeon, Sesame Street, PBS. We pay 6.99$ where we can add more than one kid.

It also helps when I need Lil'Monkey to back off of Lil'Bear during her homework time. My favorite part about this device is the versatility for my kids uses. My son can play games and watch his favorite toons on it, during my afternoon trips to carpool for my niece and nephew. He loves looking at picture books and playing learning games. My daughter can read books that are in her age group and use learning apps for her school program apps, and listen to her list of favorite music through the Amazon Prime app on her tablet. My favorite feature is that I can set time limits, learning goals and lock features for certain times. I can also limit their access to anything that is not age appropriate for my kids. This makes me feel super safe with them having tablets, safety is important.

The regular price for this tablet is $49.99, I was able to wait and buy this tablet this year during black Friday for 39$ That price couldn't be beat, especially since we were looking to buy two. My kids love these items and in the last 5 months we have really enjoyed the added fun and learning they have added to our weeks.
